✨ SHAN’S STARSHINE MINERALS BASKET ✨

Shan, you’ve picked an absolutely cracking combination here. 💜🐢✨

💜🐢 HACKMANITE TURTLE — £33.00

This gorgeous carved Hackmanite Turtle looks relatively understated at first — predominantly soft grey-white in its ordinary state.

And then you introduce UV light and it basically says, SURPRISE. 😂🔦

Hackmanite is an incredibly fascinating variety of sodalite because it can display both fluorescence AND tenebrescence — two different optical phenomena.

🔦 Under UV: it produces a gorgeous orange fluorescence.

💜 Tenebrescence: exposure to UV causes beautiful purple colouration to develop through the carving, particularly in those striking vein-like areas.

Tenebrescence is a reversible photochromic effect: after activation, the purple colour gradually fades back towards its original paler state and can be activated again with UV.

So this little turtle effectively has three different looks — its natural grey-white appearance, brilliant orange fluorescence under UV, and those amazing purple tenebrescent markings after UV exposure.

Science disguised as a turtle. I bloody love it. 😂🐢💜

💜✨ NATURAL PURPURITE + STAND — £5.00

A gorgeous little chunk of Purpurite, displayed on its own stand.

Purpurite is a manganese phosphate mineral particularly loved for its intense natural purple colouring — ranging from rich violet and plum through to reddish-purple depending on the specimen and surface.

And for £5 including the stand, this is a cracking little cabinet specimen. 💜

Locality: Unknown

I don’t want to make up a locality for this one without supplier information, as Purpurite occurs at several localities worldwide. Better to give Shan an accurate label than confidently send her home with a specimen that’s apparently travelled somewhere it hasn’t. 😂
